Each member of the Grant Specialist U.S.A. team is an experienced professional with a strong track record of success. Our team has numerous years of experience and has developed successful grant proposals to numerous state and federal departments as well as private and corporate foundations. The team is led by Principal Consultant Rena Beyer, MS.

Rena Beyer

Rena Beyer, MS
Principal Consultant

Rena has been in the grant field for well over 20 years and has worked with numerous school districts and educational agencies across the country. She has secured over $55,000,000 in highly competitive federal, state, and foundation grants.

Rena has worked in many areas of the grant field, including grant administrator, responsible for oversight of $17,000,000 in funds awarded to agencies statewide; director of grant-funded projects; trainer, federal grant evaluator, and state liaison for the national Grant Professionals Association (2004–2006); and grant reviewer for numerous state and federal departments.

Rena has addressed audiences of up to 500 on grant-related topics at the state, national, and international level and has written articles with national publication on topics of grant writing and grant evaluation. These varied experiences give her a unique perspective of the grant development and award process, resulting in increased success rates for clients.

Marcie Pfeifer-Soderbloom

Grant Development Specialist

Marcie Pfeifer-Soderbloom has been involved in grant writing since 2005. She has written charter school grants, 21st Century Community Learning Center grants, Institute of Museum and Library Services grants (IMLS), Carol M. White Physical Education (PEP) grants, Safe Routes to Schools grants, Elementary and Secondary School Counselor grants, USDA grants, Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation grants, Wisconsin Environmental Education Board (WEEB) grants, and Environmental Protection Agency grants.

Marcie’s education background includes a BA in Psychology and Sociology, an MS in Social Work, and a Grant Professional Certification based on requirements for education, experience, professional development, community involvement, and demonstrated competency as required by the Grant Professionals Certification Institute.

Marcie’s professional work experience has developed into a diverse employment profile working as a psychology research assistant, a social worker with children with disabilities and older adults, a horseback riding instructor for individuals with disabilities, a grant manager, and a freelance grant development consultant. She has served as a grant reviewer for local, state, and federal grant competitions.

Marcie has provided multiple training sessions and conference presentations to K-12 teachers and administrators, parent teacher organization members, recreation specialists, graduate students, and equine assisted activity and therapy practitioners. She is the owner and president of Win by Decision, LLC, a grant development and education consulting firm.

Linda Bruce

Linda Bruce
Grant Development and Evaluation Specialist

With over 20 years of grant experience, Linda has been involved in writing, evaluating, and administering a wide variety of grant projects. She has worked with federal, state, and county nonprofit partners to help secure well over $1,500,000 in grants. As the coordinator of grant-funded projects, she has provided training and oversight as well as direct education.

Linda’s primary interests have included education, family financial security, poverty awareness, criminal justice, nutrition, and affordable housing issues.

Her expertise includes assisting municipalities, service providers, schools, and other agencies with strategic planning, goal setting, and program evaluation. She has received numerous local, state, regional, and national awards, particularly for her work in financial management and education. Linda is the Managing Principal of Grant Writing Assessment, LLC.

Alex Beyer

Alexandria Beyer
Grant Development Specialist

Alexandria has been a member of the Grant Specialist team as an independent contractor since 2014, serving as a lead writer, editor, and researcher. She has written and co-written numerous state, federal, and foundation grants.

Alexandria is a native English speaker, fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese. She has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Studies from the University of Minnesota and has lived in Venezuela, Colombia, and Peru.

In addition to grant writing, Alexandria has multiple publications in an international adventure travel magazine. She is also a certified yoga instructor, which helps keep her and our team (and others) healthy and well-balanced. She is especially passionate about education, the arts, ecology, social justice, and nonprofit development.
